Cuddle Bugs

So, I figured out one downside to being married, and more specifically sharing a bed with your partner:

Germ swapping.

Granted, any married couple does that in a variety of ways, but I’m talking more about those lovely little guys called the common cold and seasonal flu.  I don’t know who brought it home — though, given people at work it could have very likely been me, or actually some friends with game with– but it sucks.   What seems to be worse is that we’re both much more snuggly in bed when sick, so while sleeping we continue to give each other more germies(gross!!).

Let me give you examples of how bad its been in the last 24 hours:

  • I got home from work around 5 yesterday, and said I was going to take a nap for 20 minutes and make dinner.  I didn’t get off the couch until 11 when JP came over and told me to go to bed.  I then proceeded to sleep until 7am and was STILL exhausted all day at work, and even as I write this.
  • JP was so out of it that he said he did something goofy at the end of his afternoon class — he made the sign of the cross over his class and said ‘God be with you’, and then dismissed them, only realizing what he did a couple hours later — OOPS!
  • I put my shoes on the wrong feet at first when we made a wal-mart run for tissues, zicam, and OJ

Also, you don’t realize how home-sick (or in our case Texas-sick) you are until you’ve got a bad cold or flu.  When we went to Wal-Mart JP spent about 10 minutes deciding what frozen thing to get for out throats because he was unconsciously looking for Blue Bell.  I don’t remember what we ended up getting, but I can totally sympathize with him…

Here’s hoping we get better sooner rather than later, and the germies die!
